Our 1st Quarter

Our 1st Quarter has been fast-paced, to say the least!

We’ve seen the launch of new products and an exciting trip to the Six Nations.

Plus, our teams have grown, with the introduction of new team members, and the creation of a new department.

Indeed, the team’s dedication to progress and change during this 1st quarter has been inspiring, and above all else, has laid the foundations for an exciting new chapter here at Acasta!

Our New Products

On the 1st of March, we launched our exciting new cycle add-on scheme, in partnership with Cover Cloud!

The scheme allows you to purchase coverage up to the value of £3000, alongside allowing you to insure your bicycle abroad too. This is as opposed to standard cycle insurance coverage which only allows up to £500, subject to certain stipulations. The insurance is available to be bought alongside your standard cycle insurance coverage.

The travel cycle cover scheme is a perfect example of how we like to bridge the gaps in the market. Additionally, it is an example of how we look for new opportunities to offer fair coverage.

You can read more about it here.

Our Newest Additions

We understand that our success is built on the collective talents and expertise of our staff. So far this year we have expanded our underwriting, auditing and claims divisions, alongside establishing a new Actuary department.

Joseph Lees

Pricing Actuary

Our new Actuary department, headed by Joseph Lees, is charged with building and operating tools to apply actuarial methods to rate new and current schemes and streamline pricing processes. Joseph brings a wealth of experience and a keen analytical mindset to the role.

James Davies

Claims Manager

Additionally, we have also just welcomed James Davies, our new Claims Manager, who has over 8 years of working within legal litigation and as a claim handling Manager. James will be monitoring existing processes to identify and develop potential improvements. He also provides great support and advice to our claim handlers.

We are also proud to announce the promotion of Patryjca Pietek, Cert CII, from Underwriter to Lead Auditor. Patrycja has a thorough understanding of the business. In her new role, she will be overseeing the auditing team and conducting audits within the UK and in Europe.

Tom Reid

Junior Underwriter

Muhammad Ayaz

Junior Underwriter

In addition to Joseph (Pricing Actuary) and James (claims Manager), our underwriting department has also just been emboldened with two new hires, Tom and Ayaz. Tom and Ayaz are starting out as Junior Underwriters, under the supervision of our Underwriting Manager Remi. With time they will learn the full range of our product offerings, and how we underwrite our schemes.

We would like to extend our congratulations to Joseph, James, Ayaz, Tom, and Patrycja!

Guinness Six Nations

Acasta also attended the Guinness Six Nations event with current and new agents, to watch Scotland vs England. The event was an all-around success, with all parties enjoying a full day out at Twickenham Stadium. Here we had the opportunity to converse and build on new and current broker relationships.

Acasta believes in investing in its agents and providing these types of opportunities for both the company’s growth and our agent’s professional growth.

Insurance Post

Our Marketing department also went to the Insurance post-event. A brilliant chance to gain insights into different marketing opportunities currently available and an awareness of the latest news trends making headlines. Plus, an opportunity to discover more about the current challenges facing marketing within Insurance. The mesh of marketers from different insurance companies allowed for the informative and effective sharing of ideas, which has inspired our own marketing department.

Strut Safe

‘Strut Safe is an initiative to help anyone who feels unsafe when walking in public’. It’s a helpline, open 24/7 and supported by volunteers who make themselves available on the phone for whenever you feel unsafe. To help support this initiative, the team at Acasta held a cheese toastie day, with all donations that day going towards charity. One of our team members, Nia Roberts, also puts her time in here and volunteers whenever she can. A lovely way to spend lunch, and for a great cause. If you ever feel unsafe walking alone, please don’t hesitate to call this number: 0333 335 0026, and a Strut Safe volunteer will be hand ready to stay on the line with you.

CII 150 Years

At the end of April we had the privilege of attending the Insurance Institute of Manchester’s 150-year Commemoration event. A memorable day, we had the chance to discuss a range of subjects. Indeed, we had speakers discussing current challenges within the Insurance market. Plus, we had a look into recruitment and how to attract new talent. Excitingly, Piers Linney also gave a fantastic insight into current business opportunities in the market. Finally, the event rounded off by looking into the future and how insurance will need to adapt and change, with AI and climate change. Truly an eventful and insightful day!

We look forward to our next quarter and sharing with you everything we have lined up.
